Sport Leeds

Sport is important. Participation in sport & active recreation contributes to individual health and well-being, offers social opportunities, keeps us fit and makes us feel good. As a cultural activity it builds community identity, provides a focus for social interaction and offers entertainment. As part of the leisure industry, sport & active recreation provides employment opportunities and contributes to a prosperous local economy.

Sport Leedsis a partnership network for people and organisations with an interest in the provision, and development of sport & active recreation in Leeds. Recognising both sport and active recreations intrinsic value and its ability to contribute to the wellbeing of the people and communities of Leeds.

Sport Leeds aims to:

Provide leadership and co-ordination for the development of sport & active recreation opportunities in Leeds. These opportunities include: to participate; to learn, to gain qualifications; to excel; to volunteer; and to be entertained.
Represent the interests of sports and recreation providers and participants in building a strong sporting infrastructure and a vibrant sporting community.

Influence the future development of sport & active recreation across Leeds, raising awareness of Sport Leeds and the opportunities available to participate.
