Chief Swimming Coach– Beacon Project

£30,598 - £33,291 plus a market forces supplement taking the salary to a maximum of £38,404 to be renegotiated after 3 years

Leeds City Council and the City of Leeds Swimming Club have established a training scheme and level of competitive success over the last 28 years that has placed Leeds at the forefront of performance swimming within Great Britain. The City has consistently produced swimmers at international level, some of whom have also achieved success at Olympic and World Championship level.

Our Training Scheme is one of the largest in the UK and currently uses 13 pools, has over 600 competitive swimmers and is supported by a dedicated team of full and part time coaches. The new Aquatics Centre opened in October 2007 and provides world-class facilities for our coaches and swimmers within the Training Scheme.

We have recently been successful in gaining Beacon Programme status from the asa and therefore you will take the lead role on this programme for the next 3 years. This includes coaching a regional squad, mentoring coaches from the region and assisting other clubs within the region on their performance programmes.

To achieve this you will have :

·significant experience of organising and managing swimming training schemes;

·extensive experience of coaching swimmers at regional/national level;

·first class leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;

·the asa Level 3 Coach award (essential) working towards asa Level 4(desirable)
