Connexions Personal Advisor / Sport Development (Leeds)

Hamara is a well established grassroots organisation based in the Beeston area of Leeds. The Youth Team currently have the above vacancies funded by Connexions and The Football Foundation.  We are looking for individuals with the necessary skills, enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude to enable young people from the target group to maximise their potential and contribute towards the Every Child Matters agenda. 

Male Connexions Personal Advisor
(37 hrs per week - initial contract to 31 March 2009)
Working within the South Asian Community in Leeds

Female Sports Development Worker
(18.5hrs per week – contract until 31 March 2010)

Salary Scale 5 / Spinal Point 23: £19,463 for all posts

Purpose of the posts

The Personal Advisor will provide appropriate support to young people from within the South Asian Community and engage them in a range of personal development and learning opportunities, enabling transition, integration and retention in education, employment and training.

The Sports Development Worker will be involved in the development, promotion and co-ordination of a football related programme aimed at supporting young people to make links with young people from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds in ways that increase understanding of each other.

Experience of working with and supporting young people, working within inner city areas, and of a multi agency approach are all essential requirements of the posts.
