Sports Legacy Development Manager (Yorkshire)
Working to ensure a sporting legacy in the coalfields after 2012, the following posts offer an exciting opportunity to implement the Coalfields Regeneration Trust visionary ‘Sports Legacy’ scheme. Using a variety of tried and tested approachs ‘Sports Legacy’ aims to maximise young people’s sports participation in the coalfields of England. At the heart of the programme is the commitment to community delivery by local people.
Sports Legacy Development Manager (based in Yorkshire with travel)
Salary: £32,848 (pay award pending) + essential user car allowance + pension scheme
You will need a unique combination of skills and experience and will understand both strategic and operational issues related to sport and regeneration. A ‘can do’ approach is essential in order to deliver in coalfields areas.
You must be able to demonstrate:
• The ability to turn strategic vision into action on the ground
• The ability to develop and deliver sports events linked to London 2012
• The involvement of whole communities in volunteering, participation and the citizenship agenda
You will be enthusiastic and imaginative, an effective project manager who can work to tight timescales and get things done.
Sports Legacy Regional Co-ordinator (two new posts based in North East and North West/West Mids) Salary: £24,708 (pay award pending) + essential user car allowance + pension scheme
You will need community based experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector.
You will be required to:
• Implement a mentoring scheme for volunteers including support for session plans and session evaluation
• Work imaginatively in coalfields communities to get sessions sustainable
• Work creatively with partnership and community organisations
You will have enthusiasm and an ability to build rapport with people from all walks of life. You’ll need a strong belief that sustainable community sport is an achievable goal.
