Easy Riders in September

Kirklees’ ‘Easy Riders’ start their autumn programme of monthly rides on Saturday, September 6, with a gentle paced cycle ride on the country lanes around Upper Cumberworth, Lower Cumberworth and Skelmanthorpe.

Cyclists wanting to take part should meet Kirklees Countryside Access Officer John Gleadow and members of Huddersfield Cycle Touring Club at 10am at the Dearne Lea Tea Rooms and Ice Cream Parlour, off Bark House Lane, Shelley.

The ride will take in Pilling Lane and Frank Lane, for which bicycles with wider tyres will be needed. Cyclists will also need warm and waterproof clothing, a puncture repair kit and basic tools.

There is no charge to take part but participants will need money for refreshments afterwards at the Dearne Tea Rooms. Permission has been given to leave cars in the Tea Rooms’ car park.

Easy Riders is a partnership between Kirklees Culture and Leisure Services and Huddersfield Cycle Touring Club and is aimed at people new to cycling.  An organised ride is held on the first Saturday of each month.
