Launch of 'Colne Valley Circular' Book

A new guidebook of the Colne Valley Circular walking route is being launched on Saturday, November 29, with an easy-paced walk on parts of the 12½-mile route.

The walk, being led by Kirklees Countryside Access Officer John Gleadow, will start at 10am from outside Colne Valley Museum which is situated near St.John's Church, at the top of Cliffe Ash Road. Four and a half miles in length, the walk will take in the first section from the book and, after crossing to the north side of the valley, will follow part of section five back to Golcar.

There is no charge to take part in the walk but copies of 'Walk the Colne Valley Circular - one walk in five sections' will be available to buy on the day. Priced £4.50, the guidebook is divided into five convenient sections with easy-to-follow maps, a written description of the route, essential information for walkers and background to the local history and wildlife of the Colne Valley.  There are also comprehensive photographs of the route.

The revised and updated guidebook can be purchased at Kirklees tourist information centres, some libraries and other council outlets or by contacting John Gleadow, tel: 01484 234077, email: john.gleadow@kirklees.gov.uk
