Trail Running for Beginners
There's an opportunity to enjoy the open countryside in a completely new way with ‘Trail Running for Beginners’ on Saturday, November 8.
It's the first time trail running has been included in the Kirklees Countryside Unit's programme of events to encourage people to enjoy the local countryside.
The five-mile walk/run is aimed at introducing people to off-road running and is non-competitive. It will be led by Kirklees Countryside Manager Neil Windett, who has run off-road in the Pennines for many years, and Countryside Access Officer John Gleadow who is new to the activity.
Starting at 1.30pm from the small car park on Meal Hill Road, off Woodhead Road, Holme, the route will take in Issues Road, Good Bent, Nether Lane and Digley Reservoir and part of the Kirklees Way.
Trainers with good grips and foot support will be needed as the route is on tracks and paths where conditions underfoot could be wet and rough. Participants need to be used to running, if only for short distances. The run will be taken at an easy pace with sections walked when necessary.
There is no charge to take part. For further information contact John Gleadow, tel: 01484 234077, email: john.gleadow@kirklees.gov.uk
