Bradford Bandits BMX Racing Club, North Winter BMX Race Series, Round 4
The fourth round of the North Region winter Race Series was held at the BMX track in Peel Park the home of the Bradford Bandits BMX Racing Club.
On a very sunny but very cold day 123 riders turned up to take up the challenge of providing top quality racing. Riders from as young as 6 to 55 came from as far away as Hartlepool, Preston, Lytham, Sheffield and Peterborough.
There was some exciting racing through the motos with riders battling for points to get through to semi finals in 3 of the classes.
When it came to the finals the Bradford riders were in the thick of the action in the 8 / 9 age group George Pullen took an excellent third with William Greaves not far behind in 6th. In the 10/11 age group Jacob Lee got through to the A final and was seventh in a strong field.
Arran Skow and Brad Jackson represented the Bradford Club in the 12/13 age group with Arran one of the younger riders in the race taking second and Brad unluckily slipping his pedals in the final berm and having to settle for eighth in his first regional race. 14/15 ‘s saw Michael Cummins and Dean Rae finish 5th and 6th respectively with Jack Davis another first timer at regionals taking 4th in the B-final.
A big field in the 16 to 29 category saw Josh Thewlis and David Brown battle through semi final to get to the A final while Oliver Jenkins and Thomas Jeffries were in the B-final. David Brown took the win in the A final just managing to hold off the challenge of former age group world champion Abi Taylor from Sheffield with Josh Thewlis taking seventh. In the B final Oliver Jenkins took 4th and Thomas 5th in what was another strong field.
In 30+ open Nigel Smith took fourth in the A final with Club president Billy Fieldhouse having to settle for third in the B final after a clash in his semi final left him dumped on the floor.
In the Pro race former World champion Dylan Clayton had been living up to his nickname of Doctor Smooth in the motos. However local rider Luke Gamble got the better of Dylan in the final and took a great win with the Club’s top rider Martin Ogden just being piped on the line for third.
The Club would like to thank all the Club volunteers who helped make the event such a success.
