Coaching For Teachers Update for Canoeing
Funding Support for Teachers and Adults Other Than Teachers (AOTTs) to attend BCU Coaching Courses
What is ‘Coaching for Teachers’?
This is a programme supported by DfES and presently managed by Sports Coach UK. The Coaching for Teachers scheme aims to develop the quality of teaching, coaching and learning in PE and School Sport by supporting the attendance of sports governing body courses, and obtain qualifications.
Who is it for?
These courses are aimed at teachers and (AOTTs) who contribute to extra-curricular school sport through an extended curriculum.
Which courses are available?
The BCU coaching Courses included in this scheme are:
• Bell Boat Helm, (2 day course – 4 hrs first aid)
• Canoe Safety Test (5 ½ hrs including assessment)
• *Level 1, Coach Award – Kayak or Canoe (1 or 2 day course - see entry requirements)
• *Level 1 Placid Water Coach Award (2 day (18hrs) course or 9hrs following a Bellboat Helm course)
• *Level 2 Coach Training - Kayak or Canoe (2 day course)
NB: (*These courses will transfer to UKCC courses after September 2007)

How Canoe England will help.
Canoe England will financially support individuals who are eligible for one of the above courses up to 100% including registration following submission of an application that meets all the criteria.
Where and when?
Individuals interested should identify a British Canoe Union course being run by an approved course provider.
