Dragons play off London Met

The Dragons season ended with an EBL Division 3 play off loss 70 – 76 away to L ondon Met university.

Bradford Dragons made their first ever appearance in the EBL play offs on Saturday with the long road trip to play London Met University who finished second in the EBL Division 3 south at the end of the regular season.

Dragons finished the first quarter narrowly behind at 19 – 20. With the Dragons offence struggling, London Met pulled away in the second quarter to lead 42 – 32 at the half.

Going into the third stanza, London Met pulled further away to lead by 17 early in the quarter, but Dragons upped the defence and started making their shots to close the gap to 57 – 59 at the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter it was close all the way up to the eighth minute when London Met led 69 – 67. Dragons then missed some vital shots and allowed London Met to pull away to win 76 – 70 at the buzzer.

After the game, Coach Chris Mellor said, ‘We struggled to cope with the athleticism and size of the London team. We did a great job in the third quarter to pull it back but we missed some key shots in the last 5 minutes. We have had good season in a lot of ways and we will learn from the experience and improve’.

Top scorers for Dragons were Daumants Pabrieza with 22, Eddie Davis with 17 and Aaron Kay with 7.
