More Rugby Clubmark success
Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Sport and the RFL recently celebrated two RFL Clubmark successes during the Carnegie World Club Challenge at Leeds United`s Elland Road ground in February.
They were presented with their certificate by the Sport England Yorkshire Regional Manager, Mr. David Gent and Andy Harland, RFL`s National Development Manager.
This is a significant achievement for two of Leeds City Council top sports clubs, HUNSLET PARKSIDE and KIPPAX Rugby League Clubs who are the twelfth and thirteenth club (including World Club Champions Leeds Rhinos) in the Leeds Service Area to achieve Clubmark status.
Over 112 rugby league clubs across the country now have Clubmark status and 100 clubs are also registered on the scheme.
Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against in order to create safe, effective, and child friendly environments. Clubs who achieve Clubmark status are officially ‘rubber stamped' as being a quality club, having all the right procedures, policies, action plans and coaches with relevant qualifications in place, ensuring the club has a ‘safe, effective and child friendly environment', and are known as "A Quality Assured Rugby League Club".
Clubmark brings benefits such as promoting clubs within their communities, increased participation levels, developing coaches and volunteers at clubs, raising standards and receiving priority status with funding applications.
'A great initiative and well done to Hunslet Parkside and Kippax in achieving Clubmark status.'

Well done also to Cleckheaton RUFC and Airborough RUFC on achieving the RFU seal of approval and Sport England Clubmark accredited status!
"Cleckheaton RUFC have now acquired the much coveted Seal of Approval accreditation from the Rugby Football Union," writes Chairman S teve Hutton.
"This accreditation signifies the clubs commitment to providing a well structured, safe and progressive sporting environment for Cleckheatons local and surrounding community.
"With 130 Junior members producing 9 age groups from Under 7's through to Under 18's, Cleckheaton RUFC provide the facilities and coaching to provide the best opportunity for members to attain their full potential. Progression into one of the 4 Senior teams gives a sound platform to develop to the highest level."
The Seal of Approval has endorsed the ethos of Cleckheaton RUFC and it's status of being a quality sporting facility for all members of the community to join and enjoy.
"I am very proud that another Rugby Union Football Club in West Yorkshire has become a “Seal of Approval” Club," said Hamish Pratt, West Yorkshire Rugby Development Officer.
"This has happened due to a lot of hard work from the whole club from Mini/Junior section to the Senior club working along side the RFU Development Team.
"Cleckheaton I know now will benefit from accreditation in recognising the effort and achievement of their volunteers, setting standards of quality consistent across all sports and showing tangible proof to those who may be interested in your club that it has been recognised as a quality environment for young people."
What is Seal of Approval?
Community Rugby has introduced the Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation programme as a method of examining, maintaining and improving the provision of rugby in the youth section of an Active Sports rugby club. Building upon current good practice, the accreditation aims to recognise the effort and achievement of those clubs that reach, maintain and improve on the required standard of a club committed to the Active Sports programme.
Community Rugby has worked with Sport England to integrate the Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation with the Sport England Clubmark scheme to ensure that the safe, effective, child-friendly club standards are met.
"Within Kirklees all Clubs with Min/Junior sections have accreditation and I personally thank Cleckheaton for their determination in accreditation."
