Stag Rugby West Riding Youth move to Summer
“The West Riding Youth League management have decided to follow the Hull Junior and Youth League in moving the mini/modified age groups playing seasons away from the winter months and to the summer months. This will start with the current under 8 age group and will gradually include all the age groups below 11 over the next four years.
The season will normally start in April and run to September of each year.
It is hoped that the number of players and teams taking part in this competition will increase and the skills that can be coached in the better part of the year improve the overall playing standards.
This proposal was voted on by the delegates from the clubs at their April meeting.
Research was made by the league’s coach development officer Mark Farrell, with current teams, and other playing leagues, and it was decided to follow the example of the Hull League. The West riding League would like to thank the other playing leagues that were contacted for their input.
