Charity begins at home in Caslteford

Castleford RUFC is helping out Cutsyke RL by hosting the memorial Rugby League game for Bombardier Craig Hopson at Castleford RUFC’s Willowbridge Lane ground on Tuesday 16th February with the kick off at 19:00. A Castleford & District Select XIII will play an Army Gunners travelling party which will also include guest players from Craig’s Regiment, 40 Regiment Royal Artillery. Cutsyke are looking to field two 13 man teams for each half of the game and Castleford RUFC will supply 5 guest players for the Cutsyke team.
Not to be outdone Castleford RUFC Under 16 squad will be doing their bit for two charities as the boys will be participating in a sponsored swim on Saturday 20 February 2010 at Knottingley Sports Centre from 2-30pm till 6pm. This is a great initiative by the boys themselves and deserves to be supported. Money raised will be split between the two charities, Little Hearts Matter and Wooden Spoon.
These two events show the commitment on the part of club members to make a difference in their community through the use of their facilities and their effort and enthusiasm to support good causes.

Little Hearts Matter offer support and information for children with heart defects. It aims to raise awareness of those affected when a child has only half a heart, due to conditions such as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Pulmonary Atresia, Tricuspid Atresia or Double Inlet Ventricle.
