Clubs bid for Bradford cash

Sports clubs throughout the district are encouraged to cash in on Bradford Council's £250,000 Sports Cheque fund.

Bradford Council’s Leisure Services, through it’s Community Sports Alliance, is offering clubs grants of up to £10,000 in a bid to get more people involved in physical activity.

Voluntary sports clubs and associations have until Sunday 31 October to apply to for a Sports Cheque grant to help them increase membership and participation at all levels.

Clubs can apply for funding in two areas; through revenue applications and capital projects applications.

Revenue applications are available to help finance coaching and human resources, and these applications have to be over £500 but no more than £5,000.

Capital projects applications will require funding to be over £1,000 but not exceed £10,000, and this money will be attributed to improving facilities and buying new equipment.

Clubs can apply for funding in both areas but the total amount can not exceed £10,000.

Council Leader, Kris Hopkins, said: "Being able to offer sports clubs funding of up to £10,000 to improve their facilities, offer better coaching and improved equipment, is fantastic news and will no doubt help to attract even more people to take part in sport and physical activities.

"Encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get fitter is a key element of our b active campaign, and we hope to significantly add to the 10.5 million people who have visited our sports centres and pools since the scheme was launched in 2003."
