Leeds YMCA brings home the medals at the Yorkshire Girls Gymnastics Competition

Leeds YMCA entered gymnasts into a Yorkshire competition, competing in 2 pieces, Floor and Vault, held at Boston Spa High School on Sunday 12th July 2009. There were two competitions – Under 10’s and Under 12’s
20 Leeds YMCA gymnasts competed excellently in the Yorkshire Girls Floor and Vault Competition. They walked away with 11 medals altogether. In the Morning, Dusharne Campbell in the Under 12’s competition came 1st on Vault and 3rd Overall. Whilst in the afternoon in the Under 10’s, Leeds YMCA swept the board with the help of Katherine Redshaw, Lola McCreedy, Katie Elton, Rebecca Clarkson, Lucy Powling and Charlotte Mondon, winning 1st, 2nd and 3rd on Vault, 1st and 2nd on Floor and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Overall.
Amy Latimer, Physical Activities Officer and Head coach for the Leeds YMCA Gymnastics said “The Gymnasts have worked very hard for this success that was greatly rewarded at the end of the day. Most of the gymnasts have been training at the YMCA since we started back in 2004, we are so proud of every single gymnast, as it was a very tight competition – they all did exceedingly well! The Club is really thriving.”
