National Disability Tag Rugby Festival
Leeds City Council was pleased to present the 9th National Disability Tag Rugby Festival on September 23, working closely with the Rugby Football League (RFL) and the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
"It was brilliant to see so many people obviously enjoying participating in the exciting version of Tag Rugby using a set of rules formed jointly by the RFU and RFL."
The event held at Headingley Carnegie Stadium has continued to grow and teams attend from all over the UK. The 27 teams were placed in three groups of junior, youth and competition teams. Junior and youth groups played in a participation programme while the more able teams played in the competition league with the winners having the opportunity to play a pre match game at the England verses Samoa rugby union international at Twickenham Stadium.
The support of Headingley Carnegie Stadium staff and The Leeds Rugby Foundation was invaluable, without their support and other key partners and volunteers the event could not take place.
The weather was sunny and warm and all the feedback from the schools and groups was very positive and all are looking to the 2009 event. I hope you have a great day.
