Visual Awareness and Sport course

In response to the interest generated by the Beijing Paralympics, Kathryn Fielding of the RNIB has developed a bespoke training course entitled 'Visual Awareness and Sport'.

This can either be a half day (£350) or full day course (£700) for a maximum of 20 people (staff or students). Areas covered can include:

  • Definitions of disability
  • The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
  • Working with people with disabilities
  •  Common eye conditions
  • Guiding techniques
  • Sight classifications
  • The structure of Disability Sport
  • The Paralympic Games
  • The Inclusion Spectrum
  • Adapting sports - equipment, playing area and rules
  • Coaching tips
  • VI sport specific practical sessions - cricket, football, goalball, tennis, etc

As the course is a mixture of theory and practical, suitable class/meeting room and main/sports hall facilities would be required. If you would like any more information, please let me know.
