Young Leaders Training Day 19th March 2009
1st April 2009
Over 60 year 5 pupils from 18 Primary Schools participated in a Training Day at the Richard Dunn Centre on Thursday 19th March. The aim of the day was to train both pupils and staff in the Sports Leaders UK ‘Young Leaders’ Award so they could implement the award back in their own schools The day was led predominantly by member of the Bradford Leadership Academy with Leaders from Hanson, Laisterdyke and Carlton Bolling.
These leaders delivered various sports and activities to the primary school children. While the children were having fun in the sports hall the teachers/ other staff attended a leadership workshop, delivered by SSCo Heather Jones and supported by Fiona Patterson (PLT Low Ash) on how to develop leadership within their own schools and the benefits of such a scheme.
The secondary leaders were fantastic in their delivery and an inspiration to all the younger ones.
Many thanks to Byron Primary School Children/Staff and particularly to Steve Jefferson who not only helped organise the event but also delivered a workshop and brought along his year 6 leaders to help out (as Byron already have leadership in place in their school)
It was a great day and the Partnership looks forward to seeing lots of leaders now being trained in schools.
Schools who attended: Blakehill, Cavendish, Grove House, Low Ash, Swain House, Byron, Barkerend, Fagley, Westminster, Peel Park, High Crags, Westbourne, Windhill, Our Lady & St Brendans, St Anthonys, St Lukes, Bradford Moor and Killinghall
