You're never too old for PALS
Ervin Powell of Batley is proof that you are never too old for PALS (Practice Activity and Leisure Scheme). He celebrated his 90th birthday with members of his circuit class at Batley Baths yesterday (October 2).
Ervin, who is 90 today (October 3), has been attending two circuit classes a week and regularly uses the gym at Batley Baths since joining the exercise referral scheme after recovering from a stroke just over a year ago.
His fellow PALS sprung a surprise party for him with cake, balloons, flowers and cards.
Ervin, a retired prominent Batley businessman, was a regular user of the facilities at Batley Baths before his stroke but was referred by his doctor to the exercise scheme which supports people with or recovering from health conditions.
He throughly enjoys the circuit classes which include wall presses, step, dumbells lifts and stretches.
"I wouldn't like not to come. It gives me something to do during the week and keeps me going, "said Ervin who walks from his home to the Baths whenever possible.
