Sport England Pomoting Sport Toolkit

Promoting Sport made easier

An encyclopaedia of simple-to-use information on how to promote sport and active recreation to the public has been unveiled by Sport England.
As well as a free library of community sport images, the Promoting Sport Toolkit contains information on everything from how to promote sport to different age groups to how to run events and examples of how sports clubs and organisations have used marketing and promotion to fulfil their potential.

Aimed at sports clubs, Community Sports Networks, County Sports Partnerships and any other organisation looking to promote sport, the Promoting Sport Toolkit also contains a calendar of sporting events, a discussion forum and useful links for those seeking more information.

The Toolkit, which can be accessed by everyone at www.sportengland.org/promotingsport
will be invaluable as Sport England strives to fulfil its ambition of getting two million people more active in sport by 2012. It contains a wealth of information on how to promote sport to the 33,000 young people who fall out of sport each year.

Speaking about the Toolkit,   Nigel Harrison, Director of West Yorkshire Sport, said: “As a County Sports Partnership we have a significant challenge in promoting sport and physical activity through our networks. The Promoting Sport Toolkit will allow us to improve the sharing of good practice throughout the CSP networks in Yorkshire and beyond and ensure our partners are able to join up thinking and maximize the use of resources.”

David Gent, Regional Director of Sport England Yorkshire, said: "Getting people involved in sport for the first time, or encouraging people to increase the amount of activity they do can often be a challenge.  Sports clubs are in a good position to understand their local communities and get people active.  The new Promoting Sport Toolkit can help our local sports infrastructure by offereing advice, information and examples of how clubs can best reach target audiences with a long term aim of increasing activity levels."
