School Sports Partnerships

School Sports Partnership (SSP) Programme

Schools Sport Partnerships are co-ordinated by a Partnership Development Manager (PDM) with the local sports development team and provide the local hub to strategic planning and delivery sport for and with all secondary, junior, primary and special schools and the local community within each partnership area.

School Sport Parternship Structure

Partnership Development Manager (PDM) - Manages the partnership full time and is based in a sports college.

School Sport Coordinator (SSCo) - A teacher based in a secondary school who is released from timetable two days per week to work on the project. They work with their own school and cluster of feeder primary schools.

Primary Link Teacher (PLT) - A primary school teacher who is released 12 days per year to work on the project.

Objectives

  • Raising Standards - In PE but also across the curriculum
  • Strategic planning - within the school and across the partnership
  • Primary liaison - between neighbouring primary schools and with local secondary
  • School to community - building pathways for young people for lifelong participation
  • Coaching and leadership - encouraging young people to take leadership roles
  • Out of hours activity - increasing opportunities for more pupils to take part
