Athletics
England Athletics, together with Sport England, has invested considerable thought and effort into making Athletics work in West Yorkshire. This involves working with schools and clubs to bring more participants into the sport. Work continues also with with current athletes to improve the standards competitors across the region. This has been aided by the introduction of the Power of 10 from UK Athletics.
West Yorkshire Sport and Local Authorities are working closely with clubs to help them achieve Clubmark. This accreditation will show they are a club committed to their younger athletes and that they provide a safe environment to train and compete. Development of Athletics is happening at a local level see the development group pages for more information of what is happening in your area.
During the winter months there will be a lot of focus on indoor athletics particulary Sportshall. There are Sportshall leagues running across Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees. We will also be looking at the cross-country initiative.
