Go-Ride is British Cycling's Club Development Programme aimed at improving both young riders and clubs. It focuses on volunteers and young members - improving coaching standards and increasing the number of young riders with access to coaching activities.
Go-Ride and Clubmark
British Cycling has incorporated Sport England's Clubmark standard into the Go-Ride Accreditation programme. Clubmark is a nationally recognised set of standards that supports the development and recognition of quality junior clubs.
A Go-Ride Cycling Club is a club that has committed to work towards Clubmark accreditation. To achieve Go-Ride Clubmark status clubs are required to demonstrate minimum operating standards in 4 areas.
Safeguarding Young People
Sports Equity
Club Management
Coaching
Go-Ride Clubmark Clubs, like Clubmark clubs in all sports around the country will enjoy certain benefits. Benefits such as:
Discounted coaching courses
7 Free silver memberships for club volunteers
Free Coaching Jackets
Free Coaching Equipment
Greater publicity
Efficient operations
Bigger membership
Priority and discounts at local facilities
Many clubs are already practicing excellent operating standards such as having qualified coaches and communicating regularly with club members. Therefore all that is required is submitting evidence of those practices. However the key aspects a club needs to become a Go-Ride Clubmark Club are:
A volunteer to attend Safeguarding Young Person Workshop (www.sportscoachuk.org)
A Volunteer to attend an A Club For All Workshop (www.runningsports.org)
A volunteer to attend Level 2 Cycling Coaching Award - Coaching
Deliver regular coaching activities and attend regular competitive events.
